Selected Leadership Books and Other Readings

Leadership: Theory and Practice by Peter G. Northouse

Leadership: Theories and Practice I have had this book for some time, but a couple of friends borrowed and I just recently got it back. After reviewing it, I can see why they read it and passed it on for it is perhaps one of the best books on the theories of leadership. And it does not stop there as it also goes into quite a bit of depth about applying leadership. It works not only in the academic world as a textbook, but also for a wonderful reference for individuals or an organization.

Also included at the end of each chapter/lesson is an activity for apply the lesson to your life. Note that this is one of the highest rated leadership books on Amazon that I have seen (with over 45 reviews).

The Leadership Challenge by Jim M. Kouzes and Barry C. Posner

The Leadership ChallengeWhile many leadership books are based on the top people at corporations, such as CEOs, the Leadership Challenge is based upon leaders at all levels within the organization, which enables the authors to show how every-day people can make positive impacts within their organizations. Thus it works for first-line supervisors on up to the top level executives.
